Wednesday Holiday Prep

Getting ready to share the love...

Warrior was thinking and creating simultaneously.
His yellow is God's light shining into black sin.
Yes, it's Valentine's Day that's is approaching and preparing to create cards...
Teacher LOVES that Warrior was
thinking of the eternal love.

Texture rubbings underway...

Mascot's cute posing included...

And, to the post office we go!
Sharing a love that reigns eternal,
through the texture of doilies
and brightness of Crayola.

Life is good.
We serve a good God.

Wednesday Wonders

STRRRRRRETCH your body.

And stretch the mind, restored health is good and the body now must activate.

Brain, engage.

Tongue prepare for Phonics.

Eyes prepare to read.

Fingers prepare to trace and write.

Yes, first full day back to school and the Cursive intensive begins.

After talking to Language Therapist Miss Janet, Teacher and Principal thought it best to hault Warrior's script Writing skills and move over to Cursive. The fluent letter motions are friendlier on the young brain and fine motor skills. What fun for Student to tag along and review! Hooray for the next 25 days in a row... are the best laid plans, anyhow.

Thank You, Lord, for finding favor with the Homeschool and bringing good health and sunshine. For You are good to us. Amen.

Play For All Thursday

Because there is a time for everything, according to The Word...

Today was a play for all day!

Having an opportunity to rule the roost and
swap babies on her hip,
Student rather enjoyed the extra company.

Kids allover the campus and sewing in the dining.

Knowing that 9 children don't play peacefully just EVERY day,
we thank God for blessing our day of play!

After rowdiness exited...

there were naps and then seatwork with the old gang: Warrior & Woody.

Student snacking while seatworking...because multi-tasking is naturally put into many females by the Creator, she smoothly works along.

Another Schoolday

Yes, onward with the eyes on the prize!

Of course, Teacher isn't insisting on a one-track-mind...
afterall, she's been pulling double-duty during Student's
Spelling lessons.

Homeschool Rule #336
Handwork should always be available for just such opportunities!

Mascot's handwork is of a different sorts, but just as busy!

And the most popular between-time-filler for Warrior and Student has been group time on the computer. Warrior has been LOVING his new phonics game online! His favorite is the shoot out, with Student's help only on the HARD level!

And though his Reading is progressing well, Teacher has to take the time to convince him that books are exciting...think this is convincing.

Lord,
teach us as parents to pray for Your children the way You would have us. Amen.

Friday School

Finishing for the break, Teacher snapped these shots and then began to breathe. Oh, the much needed break and opportunity for reorganization. Thanks, God. You are good, and know just when we need to rest. Amen.

Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday, Jesus!

Friday Super School

It's here! It's Here! It's here!

WORKING a whole week is a practice the Homeschool needs to get back into, and both Student and Warrior did great! It's Teacher who had to push to make it happen. Thanking our steadfast Lord for His determination and perseverance!

Reading about snow has been Warrior's choice topic since Fall hit. Today's cpzy Reading togetherness took place on the couch with some freshly-picked local pears!

Warrior has begun to recognize his daily routine very well. Many of his activities are to promote his memorization of certain facts. And so his rote learning brings a small twist on it when it can!

Grabbing some buttons from the jar, Teacher let Warrior place them on the number orally stated. Then, Warrior let Teacher have a turn finding the numbers he picked! He loves playing teacher!

Warrior has also graduated onto complete sentences in his Handwriting. He is just getting the hang of Reading the entire sentence and then repeating it. He loves to make jokes about the sentence by looking at the picture clues! Really a relative of Papa D we can see!

Student has been reading one to two Box Car Children books per day! Her trips to the library are increasing! Good thing we are just a half mile from the local library!

Teacher sees that Student has escaped the lens of the camera lately, and so she is represented by her latest gift from Auntie Ang...Hello Kitty fleece pajamas, a regular uniform for Winter Homeschool!

Quickly finishing up our daily load, Principal made it back to present the super prizes to Student and Warrior! Warrior earned his long-awaited boxing gloves, and Student earned her asked-for alarm clock...one step closer to REAL LIFE!

Thursday School

Yes, there is a holiday break approaching...

So, down to business. Super School continues for all!

In addition to the status quote work...

Puzzle work for Mascot, as he seems to always be helping the other students. He has even been swiping cups from the dining table and taking them to the bathtub and filling them with waer for snack time! What a helper! 14 months and counting!

Serious stretching followed by Yo Gabba Gabba! Not to be confused with an ATTENTION DEFICIT PROMOTER... as the Homeschool doesn't partake in it's colorful and
fast presentation EVERYDAY!

Cooking for self AND others, strawberry muffins, a flavor pick from Student.

Warrior even double-dutied during his Phonics! He has graduated to his first non-phonetic sound! E can say EEE as in ME!

Counting the giveaways before delivering them, Warrior licked his lips!

Thanks be to God for helping the Homeschool continue in a Super week.
All the glory and honor to Him! Amen.

Thursday School

Giving their best and giving God the glory.
Yes, books and pencils found their way to the Homeschool, yet again, today.

Student and Warrior, however, used their love for cooking to provide dessert
to the local homeless shelter residents.

Daily, learning to do everything without complaining,
so they may be blameless and pure children of God...

Wednesday School

Among the mess...
papers...
pencils...
glue...
books and soaked kleenex...
the camera found it's way to the backyard to catch some Autumn action...

All in a day's reward after completing the WORK,
the PLAY is earned! Possibly the last barefoot play after 4pm of the season...

Tuesday School

Yes, the Reading was done more so by Teacher today...

First with Mascot...

Then Warrior...

Not to do ALL of the reading, Teacher moved over and caught THIS Warrior reading his first phonics series book from Miss Tonya!

Sorting and being good stewards of our ever=growing DVD collection...

Somewhere in between was good ol' status quote seatwork...

and then...

ART! Student's self-led project that had simple directions that she embellished with wool! LOVE THAT BRAIN!

Welcome Autumn!

The weather is too welcoming to learn inside the walls of the Homeschool.
To the park they go.
Each on two wheels, helmets atop heads,
and feet cycling with excitement...
and the geese joined us!

Warrior demonstrates his skills for some newcomers to the climbing wall...

Student works on her ever-developing mothering skills, and she does so with such grace...

The park equipment was only fun the Student had...

Her jumping rope chart topped out with 7 JUMPS today.
We'll see what the rest of the week brings!

Knowing that the day is passing, and seatwork is calling,
the Homeschool headed home...

One block in 10 minutes isn't the usual travel speed of Warrior, however, his back tire was drastically flat. It was just another bolck further that God arranged a couple out on their porch for an afternoon sunning. We kindly asked and they kindly offered their air compressor. Really, the details, Lord, thank you for your care!

It was just two blocks further that Warrior's tire was completely flat, again. Not taking our usual path to the park, the Homeschool ended up in the front yard of some family from church.
Why did this path get taken?
Why were they home and offering to take the kiddos in the van with their bikes home, while Teacher and Mascot rode home solo?
Why did the most giving people of the whole town have a home on 5th street?
Because God is good, and this is part of the good
He brings in all situations not-so-good! Praise Him!

Back at the Homeschool...

Reading is always a part of Student's day.
With Warrior...

With Mascot...

With a book for sure, and anyone else who will join the fun!

ascot joined the Math fun, as even his little hands love the manipulatives!

Student continued with her solid shape learning, and reviewed
WHAT TIME IS IT, MR. CLOCK?

Using her fraction language, she had learned quarter til/after last year, but her brain had a hard time remembering it, and she added the half fraction to the mix, also. This was frustrating, but she persevered and agreed to work on it daily.

Bible lesson in Genesis, still. Warrior wondered about Joseph and his brothers... he really doesn't understand the thought of a parent loving one sibling more than another. PRAISE GOD!
And when talking of the food Joseph was instructed to store-up for the famine, he wondered about our pantry storage in the basement!
But if we open our food, the spiders will be in it! They will want us to share!

Blessings of daily renewing of the mind through the learning He has established with our hands. Amen.
