Friday Before Saturday

Saturdays are great for MANY reasons, yes.

But a girl only turns 8, once! Saturday marks her party day.
So get your seatwork done, call it a Halfie...





and get to painting the party signs!

Weak Wednesday

Yes, in Heaven there will be no tears,
no sickness,
and no pain.



Even the trees feel the sadness and sickness since the fall of this earth.
Doesn't that tree look so sad-faced?

As for now, when sickness comes, may we endure
and inherit the Kingdom.

This too shall pass. Yes, even Buzz and Big Baby will get better.
After they obey Mascot and get some rest, that is.

Tuesday Together

Mascot called, he said the Homeschool is out and about with Principal today.



Warrior has sat on his chore money LONG ENOUGH, and his prayers have brought him peace about buying the Larry Boy action figure and mobile today.



As for Student, she's due for a new swimming suit, and she has found a WINNER!



Oh the joys of Together Tuesdays!

Friday Halfie

Blame Teacher and her passion: sewing.
Homeschool Halfie today!

Not just any project, but an experiment!



And really, while seatwork had it's place with Student, Mascot found himself creating, too!



Is there a rule that SHARP objects don't get into the hands of a toddler?
Well, he was learning about patterns, and he's a stunt man, really.
Not to say that Principal condoned this pattern exercise, because he did NOT!

As for Warrior, he graduated from his short vowel books and Mrs. Tonya would be so proud!



Teacher sensed a bit of pride from Warrior himself, as he lay the books out in order.

Hes almost beginning to show Kindergarten potential! Maturity and all!

Wednesday Dirt

When sickness arises, The Homeschool calls for a Halfie
and instructs in bed when capable...



Student tromped down the stairs to take refuge in Teacher's bed. AKA: sick bed.

Reading aloud some hymn history, Rebecca and Student vetoed other
subjects for the Halfie, so it was a slow day.



Others find the energy to get into the dirt and clean...



Learning necessary flushing skills while he is at it...
Mascot gets to work in the bathroom.



And why not put things back in their correct places?
That he did.
Clean up in the bathroom was a FIRST for him,
and it was a success.

Wednesday Holiday Prep

Getting ready to share the love...



Warrior was thinking and creating simultaneously.
His yellow is God's light shining into black sin.
Yes, it's Valentine's Day that's is approaching and preparing to create cards...

Tuesday, Last

There's much to be thankful for, as many are on-the-mend at the Homeschool.
And so we thank You, Father in Heaven:

less-raw noses,
soft tissues,
family togetherness,
clean drinking water,
hot showers,
doctors,
delayed immunizations because of fever,
Principal's presence.

Truly, Father, thanks be to our, the God of restoration. Please continue to show your mercy and healing here to those who are sick. Amen.

Q: What does one get when a sick Warrior's Motrin IB kicks in?
A: A pillow-turned-punching bag.



Q: What next to do with such energy?
A: Get some Vitamin D and go for a walk-turned-run!

All except Warrior, that is. No sitting for the Motrin-energized!

That's all?

The weekend is over?

But there's still illness going around on campus.

However, Student & Warrior found something to sing about:
Transportation Vehicles.

This is a melodic short featuring their Teacher-lead Drawings.
Complete with stuffy voices, and lack of practice, as nobody wants to revise a project
when they are sick!



Read some.

Spell some.

Review some.

Call it a Halfie and go back to bed.

Winter Wednesday

Yes, it's getting colder.
No, the energy is NOT any less.
Yes, the world has seen a lot of the Homeschool, and Winter isn't officially here, yet!

Leaving campus for a playdate, Student had an Art project, as well!



She is always ready for play with little girls. And this she had. But the impromptu lesson on Tissue Ball construction was a welcome second! Thanks, Aunt Kathy.

Gathered for snack, even Mascot sat like a little gent. With all energy sitting still, they were recharged to head back to campus for lessons.



Lessons that would amount to only a Halfie, Warrior multi-tasked to make the most of his pre-nap learning! Snack AND Social Studies are an obvious match in his eyes!



Thank you, God of the universe, for taking care of our details this year of learning. May we do all our handiwork with all of our might... in Your name, Amen.

Thursday Play

Socialization. That's the number one argument when home educating is presented in a conversation. Really! Among all of the disagreements out there, the Homeschool can handle this one, no problem.

As most families we adore have MORE than three kiddos like, the Homeschool, we find opportunities to play and SOCIALIZE quite oft. TOday just happened to be one of those opportunities!

Beginning the crew with their listening skills, their order of instructions and cooperation proved true with the making of PUMPKIN PIE CHEX MIX!



The Barn Sale that Teacher recently participated in was the inspiration for this recipe... thanks, Miss Beki.



And after much running,
swinging,
chasing,
rolling,
whinig,
disagreeing,
hugging,
shaking
and eating... the Homeschool's socialization lesson was complete!

It was Grandmother who furnished the afternoon Geography lesson. Locating Mongolia on the globe and closely-eyeing the popcorn, the Homeschool sat down for an international delight:
The Story of the Weeping Camel.



Calling a halfie and finishing up with more activity outdoors, it is official:
HOMESCHOOL LOVES FALL!

Wednesday Love

That is all...

The greatest of these...

Not such a BIG word...but a BIG act...

Love.

Teacher is familiar, all too familiar, with the ways God gets her attention. Not mentioning things once and expecting her to GET it...but, rather, three times firmly stating in love to her, what needs to have her attention.

First, it was a song that quoted the scripture of '''doing all these things without love, it is vain...

Well, it then came through the Wednesday morning study for women that Teacher began and the kiddos had an opportunity to have a playdate.

Beth Moore, said " Control-freaks don't have fun they have fits!"

Then, the financial studies of next weeks curriculum prompted, "A child is a trust. We are stewards of our children's lives for a short time".

Well, third time, we are NOT out. With God, the graceful parent, we can try again. It's the schedule. The rigid schedule that Teacher was JUST thankful the homeschooling didn't for...but easy to slide into. When the pages are not passing but the hours are, a feeling of failure, NOT from God, can creep in. So, to reject that, in the name of Jesus, and REALLY get what God brought to the plate of the Homeschool, Wednesday was full of love. A lesson well-taught and well-learned all the days of our lives. Both this one, and the next!

Warrior & Student had a small Health lesson, focusing on posture and how good/bad habits of posture affect the rest of our bodies. Also, Warrior's BIG OL' Safety Cards for Health focused on Breakfast as the most important meal. Student really enjoyed the amazing detail in God's creation of humans: the equal measurement of the finger to finger span and the vertical height!



And after playdate, the Homeschool hosted our new Hoemschool Pal Haley, for lunch. Well, the spinach dip, fish cakes, and fresh veggies were good, but it was the Jolly Rancher Popsicles that brought the smiles!



Smiles show that people feel loved. Teacher gets smiles from feeling loved by the Heavenly Father, and so she will focus on passing that love on in the daily work of the Homeschool.

Old Skool Tuesday

What else can a family do to preserve time together? Go old skool!



Teacher explained the rpm measurement and gave strict instructions for loading and unloading a record onto their Fisher Price Record Player. Oh, and the STOMP warning, too! Remember that? These iPod kids have no idea what they enjoy without interruption!



Our Music lesson was relating feelings and music. Both Student and Warrior chose if the song made them feel happy or sad, and what elements of the music caused them to relate such feelings.

Warrior insisted that Cal Smith's It's Time to Pay the Fiddler was SAD. While the DRAGNET theme was happy...Sounds like a superhero song!

Student said it was the soft, high notes that were slow and made her feel sad in Skitch Henderson's Moonglow.

Ending with some storytime 45s, Teacher had to put away the records before Mascot got ahold of them!

Spelling Power continues for Student on a daily basis, and her testing needed a closer pinpoint of her levels, so she correctly spelled all on her new list, but SCIENCE, as Warrior correctly named the begining letters and sounds of each word! He even tries to give her phonetic hints!

Outside, we ventured, for a bike ride and a trip around the world. After stopping for snack, Mascot wanted to join in on the gaming-fun with barefeet and cement!



Student was close behind Warrior in their Spelling and Phonics version of AROUND THE WORLD on the sidewalk.



Changing around the Homeschool by cleaning old dust, and making new Autumn decor, both Student and Warrior claimed a French door for their trees.



Picking leaves from the yard and rubbing with a NEW and SHARP crayon set, they taped up their masterpieces.



Awaiting the last delivery of our curriculum, there's nothing new under the sun for the rest of our day at the Homeschool. Resting in the shade and enjoying the breeze...Mascot is good at this! And so we close with a Halfie.



Lord above, thank You for Your protection and care. There are many days that we see your plans unfolding and are amazed! May we continue to have faith and trust in Your plan for good on the days we don't recognize your hand in our tasks. Afterall, some things are higher than we, though we Praise Your ways. Amen.

Thursday Art

Art with friends!

All the live-ling day the Homeschool worked on a project to further the Kingdom. A community project for May Day. And that's enough to call it Halfies and sit back and ponder how God will work through this event!

Leaving the Homeschool for violin lesson, God provided a break in the rain and a dry ride for travel! Thank you Lord, for blessed neighbors! Student just has to decide which piece to play for her recital next week...decisions, decisions.

Not to forget the play of the day:
Student and Warrior constructed a new toy from the following:

And the creativity brought cooperation and hours of bow and arrow hunting-fun!

Fantastic Friday

Beginning with Jesus' first miracle during His time on earth, Student switched up with Teacher and read aloud instead of listening this time. She picked 2 new vocab words:
ritual
guest of honor
We talked about being careful choose to do things with all your might if you're choosing to do them, and not being heartless. Rituals we partake in that we MUST also take heart in:
communion
eating meals
safely traveling
blessings of health



Other than that, we called it a HALFIE and headed to the park for picnic and friends!

Family Friday

It's true, the end of the week came. We knew it was around the corner, and since the New Jerusalem has not been established in the between time, the Homeschool has continued.

Making time for books and papers before Grammie took over Student and Toddler for the night, this was our master plan.

Look, and see, that the Midwest was almost absent of wind today, and that calls for a celebration: Family Friday!



From living room pool games and getting-along...



to the park for a slide...



through the mud to Mrs. Sarah's farm...



amidst the kittens and clouds...

It was here, on this day, that the Homeschool united with one another and Christ.
