Fishing Report

Thanks to Mr. Dennis, our fishing trip was a learning experience full of gear, smells, walking and fun!
Each member of the senior group paired with a child, and off they went for en experience of fun. Not exactly a fishy experience, as we saw NONE! But snakey, indeed!
Student says: I learned how to cast my fishing pole in the water. I asked for fake worms for bait, and catfish bait. I didn't catch a fish with them, and it was time to go after I tried the catfish bait. Mr. Doug said that each kid needed an adult for their buddy. And, Mr. Dennis was my buddy. We played at the playground and then we ate hotdogs and then we went to the water. We went fishing! When I was done, finishing fishing, I saw 4 beer cans and left the place cleaner than I found it.

Field Trip

Yes, I went fishing 20 years ago on a family camping trip. No, I don't remember anything. So, since the seniors from church will be in charge, I can't wait to learn with the student today!

Job 12:7-9 (New International Version)

7 "But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
       or the birds of the air, and they will tell you;

8 or speak to the earth, and it will teach you,
or let the fish of the sea inform you.

9 Which of all these does not know
that the hand of the LORD has done this?

Manipulatives

Manipulate has always been a bad word in our family. But there is always something new to learn, and here we are with manipulatives for math class. Student told me that she loves math and wants to do it all day!

We continued in our 50 State Scramble unit. Student learned key terms and facts about her state.

Bible Day study: Synagogue School talked about the girls staying home and learning from the mothers, while the boys went into the courtyard to learn from the Rabbi. Student thought it pretty neat that this is our current arrangement for the girl in our family! And the 2 students we have for the summer created a play that we will see how to connect it to the blog! That is Daddy work:)

Student says: I LiKe to home School.  I Like to  Do  math.

Summer School Day 1

Yes, the morning stayed on schedule! What a blessing for our first day. Despite the grumpy toddler, the injured toe, and the lack of syrup for our french toast...God is good all the time!

We began our Bible lesson unit: Home life in Bible Day. And our first lesson in our 50 states unit was today.

Here's the student view:
I like to draw. Today I drew a picture of what our story was about. And I drew the carpenter shop that Joseph and Jesus worked in. And, I drew a temple through time where Jesus was teaching to all people. I wrote a summary of the story.
In my lesson, we talked about the 50 states. And my state that I picked to learn about is South Carolina.
