Tuesday Together

Together, some.
Alone, some.
In Student's bed, some!

Teacher said if it was ONLY reading going on in Student's bed, then student's bed is open for his visit.

Writing, not being her favorite, Student does however like to share her work. Reading her story aloud, she doesn't have to ask Warrior to quiet down as he's still in her bed. Thus, she's happy to share!

Mascot uses his favorite POINTER to choose the country the Homeschool can pray for today. Those red and orange countries on the map currently persecute Christian solely for their faith, and we are called to pray for those suffering, and mourn with those who mourn, so we practice that here at the Schoolhouse. Cousin wanted to take note of which countries were Bible-friendly so he didn't go to the wrong one on vacation, sweet boy that he is!

Reviewing the month song, rug time is complete.

Working his skip-counting skills, Warrior is up to 2s, 5s and 10s. Can't wait to see him connect this counting with coins! That's the kind of thing his brain really gets a kick out of.

And to be the only third grader, usually means for seatwork, so as the others fill the floor, Student continues in her work. Diligence in her prayer journal among the other lessons, this is the focus we are called to.

2Peter 3:14
Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.

Monday Beginning

Finding the math of an art project too-complicated, Teacher calls Principal in for assistance!

And so his brain and our hands collectively finished HALF of our first Pinterest-inspired project!

As for rug time, those kiddos scrunched down and squatteed for their chance to JUMP up for their birthday month during our 12 months of the year lesson for cousin. He hadn't heard the Homeschool's rendition before today, but he's in love now!

Back to desks for piano activities. Studying up on their note-reading, Cousin is certainly thinking hard!

Working puzzles and practicing 0-5 times tables, this morning has been a blessing, A reminder from our Father in heaven that all good things come from Him.

Having some quiet-space for Reading, Warrior chooses the dining room to speed through his lesson and hit the outdoors as soon as possible.

Student, also loving the Autumn weather blessings, is putting her artistic talents to work for the 1st Annual LIFE RIDE to take place over the next weekend. Lord, may you get the glory and honor as you are a God of truth. May your truth be celebrated on bikes this weekend!

Monday Cooperation

That's how it's done.

Together.

If one can get along with their family, and learn Roman Numerals,
then one can get along with anyone! Isn't that how you learned it?

Warrior and Mascot retreated for some seatwork just in time for the scissors to break out.

Warrior has much to perfect in his cutting skills, it's true of any pre-k cutter. However, his cutting-etiquitte should also be addressed. Teacher? Go ahead and stop taking pictures to teach manners, thank you.

Couch school moves over to floor-pillow school for Student.

Sharing her story and drawing, her sentences and details are more in depth when she draws along with writing.

And to top-off the Monday, Principal brought an addition of new life in the form of an orchid.

Nothing like fresh flowers to remind us of the presence of God wherever we go, in all that we do.

Monday, Monday

Bright and early.
Yes, Monday has arrived.

Finding focus with fabric,
Warrior keeps his Reading straight
and organized.

Transforming for super-time
with Principal,
Warrior creates some paper airplanes.

And, getting his share,
Mascot takes over the empty spot
after the rush clears.

Who let Student sleep in, anyway?

Monday School

Warrior has been working with his hands for quite a while for manipulatives in Mathematics.
Today, is a transition to shapes.

Reading aloud with quite careful elocution,
Student presented the Psalms to the Homeschool.

Onto Current Events,
Student reads from the news page at Klove.

Catching some simple experiments up with GRAVITY force tests,
Student gathered an array of objects to test...

And reading up on Health, Student always enjoys the comic strips.

And Mascot? Well, he's getting his share of time as Baby Spider...

Blessings of knowing the souls of Heaven's treasures.
These children are no strangers.
Guests that we are keeping and caring for
until He returns.

Tuesday Treasues

Treasures of the most eternal kind: our children.

Just when the break seemed so chaotic, yet easy,
God brought encouragement of the most genuine kind...thanks for Miss Amy.
Lord, You are our hope and strength. These children are a treasure to you,
may we be found responsible stewards of your treasure. Amen.

Warrior's day began with really sleepy eyes, and a body that he said was "Too tired to get up on his bed, again."

Giving him some encouragement, the crayons and the Star Wars coloring book came out to play.

Mascot got right into his lesson of scattering and resorting the magnet board letters.

And Student took to the table for seatwork. Warrior by her side, he decided he could try some seatwork. Observing and aiding in his Phonics, Teacher sees he exhibits the tongue-tip trait from Teacher's father. Concentration is always more focused when the tongue us exposed.

Erasing and writing, and reading must have brought on Warrior's fever.
As he warmed up, and the ibuprofen kicked in,
Warrior found his energy again and insisted on some Activity.

Stretching and the regular routine to Gnarls Barkley was enough to wear him out. Teacher observed this strange reaction and noted he must truly be sick. And so he retired to bed with water and snoring.

Make way for Student! Practicing her Spelling list with some games of Hang Woman and creating sentences, here are some of her writings.

I told my friend about the parade!
My clothes are dirty.
We both have rules!
My nose is red!
I have my own computer!

I believe every one of those sentences were true, too. Especially the dirty clothes part! She fixed that, though! It's amazing how much Student can fit into her day when Warrior takes an extra nap! She completed her Current Events Reading, FAVORITE STORY HERE, and even timed the naps of both Warrior and Mascot to sprawl out on the floor and sew! That a girl!

Student's Christmas wish was given from Papa. She had been praying as to what she should use her chore savings for and she kept coming back to Rebecca. And this is a story of a girl and her doll and the doll's cold shoulders:

Mom, I wrapped this fabric to make her a recital dress, since I don't know when we'll sew one. But, it's only covering one shoulder so she needs a cloak. There are cloaks in the catalogue, but they are $24.

Well, Miss Heather just gave us some fabric that just might work for such a project.

But when? When can we make it?
Because the boys are sleeping...can we?

Yes!

BEGINNING LIKE A CIRCLE SKIRT, THE DECISION WAS MADE HOW LONG TO HAVE THE CLOAK, WHILE REFERENCING THE A*G FELICITY CLOAK PICTURES. STUDENT PICKED A DOUBLE-KNIT IN BROWN THAT NEEDED NO HEMMING AND CREATED AN EVEN QUICKER FINISHED PRODUCT, THANKS MISS HEATHER.

THEN, A RECTANGLE WAS CUT FOR THE HOOD. SIZING A RECTANGLE IN PROPORTION TO REBECCA'S LOVELY LOCKS, THE AMOUNT OF FABRIC WASN'T QUITE ENOUGH, BUT WE WORKED WITH WHAT WE HAD.

STUDENT USED THE ROLLER CUTTER TO TRIM THE CORNER OF THE INNER SEAM OF THE HOOD, JUST AS A PILLOW CORNER WOULD BE DONE.

THEN THE BIAS TAPE WAS SEWN TO THE FRONT OF THE HOOD AND THE HOOD THEN TO THE CLOAK. USING SCRAP STRINGS FROM THE LEFTOVER BROWN DOUBLE KNIT, THEY WERE HANDSEWN AND COVERED WITH STUDENT'S CHOICE FROM THE BUTTON JAR AND FINISHED OFF WITH A BURGUNDY FLOSS THAT WAS PART OF STUDENT'S CHRISTMAS CRAFT BASKET FROM GRAMMY.

REALLY, READING THE PROCEDURE, TEACHER GUESS THE BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF CLOTHING CONSTRUCTION IS REQUIRED AND SEES THAT IF SHE WERE TO EVER WRITE PATTERNS, THE INSTRUCTIONS WOULD TAKE TEN TIMES LONGER. SO FOR THOROUGH INSTRUCTIONS, TEACHER WILL HAVE TO TRY AGAIN ANOTHER FREE DAY WITH NOTHING ELSE ON THE PLATE.

After reawakening into the world, Warrior ate a full lunch and listened well to the lesson and instructions from Student on their bean plants.

Afterwards, he decided his school day needed to be a Halfie because he was going to lay down, yet again. Oh, the honesty of a boy when his body hurts. God designed we humans to know when we need rest, it's just that adults often don't listen! Oh the lessons God teaches each day through children in our lives. Thank you, Lord. We are trying to listen. Please open our ears to receive knowledge and wisdom from You each day. Amen.

Merry Monday, Last

Indeed! By His grace and strength and TIME MANAGEMENT,
the Homeschool was given much and accomplished much, today!

Warrior began his lessons early with the magnet board.
He is reading so well! Teacher loves watching him surprise himself!
He has been choosing the middle sound, the vowel, and Teacher will add the beginning and the end sound...like his first word read today...GAS! His short vowel memorization has been successful with the song that Student taught him.

He burst into excitement and thought to bring Astro Boy into the lesson and wanted to spell the name of their fighting robot: Zog. And he did just that!

Warrior is focusing on sorting and counting groups, however, he's NOT satisfied with theses exercises because he notices Student adding, and so shall he!

Student has been having her Reading journal time as a self-lead lesson. Her sentence structure has suffered, and so Teacher spent some review time on Grammar.
Complete sentences with correct beginning, middle and ending.
Subject/Predicate, capitalization, and punctuation...and oh how she was soaking it all back into that thorough brain. But when it was time for her to write her four complete sentences, she asked Teacher to stay beside her! Oh, the love of a Student for their Teacher...fulfilling when God knows the cup of Teacher is running dry!

Mr. Bouncer invited Mr. Tod over. Mr. Tod stole the baby rabbits! Peter found the rabbits! Now they are safe.

And also in her writing today, Student combined her most-missed Spelling words into a short and funny blurb.

A hungry man ate a ugly puppy for lunch on a sunny day. He struck the other pup.

And in the news, Current Events, Student opened the latest snail mail update from Samaritan's Purse about their March 2nd 2011 marathon in Georgia. Teacher is tempted and MUST talk to Principal! Their Turn the Tap ministries is bringing clean water allover the continent of Africa.

Science brought Student to the design of the beaver. His work, his purpose, group working skills and tender heart taught Student this:
Work hard and faithfully.
Take good care of things you have.
Work together with neighbors.
Help those around you in times of trouble and danger.
Help those less fortunate.

SHe even compared webbed feet to non...

Whatever else Student completed, it involved Reading. This love of hers is growing, as we thank God and pray it rubs off on Warrior and Mascot!
