Monday Clarity

If there's one thing set straight on this Monday morning at the Homeschool...

Photobucket

Teacher thinks it'd be the lack of clothing...

Photobucket

and haircuts in this place.

However, beginning with hot apple cider, Teacher thinks it is all bearable.

Speaking of Mondays, Student and Warrior are brushing up their Christopher Columbus knowledge with a few poems prior to the Holiday next week.

Photobucket

Warrior reads to earn computer tokens.

Photobucket

And even lets Mascot look on!

Photobucket

Finishing up the newly-learned skill of addition,
Warrior joins Student for a walk in the rain as Mascot naps.

As for Teacher, the day ends with quilting!
Sew and sew some more.

Continues the month May

Germs are moving along,
each to his own new home
in another family member.

This too shall pass, and all that will be left
shall be warm and sunny,
for summer is soon-to-come!
Maybe Student should learn the sick-cycle as well as the water-cycle?!

As for today, bedschool remains...

Lessons of the good samaritan reminds both Student and Warrior,
that in all seasons of life, there are many to help and give love. His love. As these things mean nothing without the love of Christ, Jesus, our Savior.

Ans Mascot gets in his Thomas time. Oh the joys of trains and wee ones. Nothing makes a stuffy nose go unnoticed like Thomas the train!

Wednesday Dirt

When sickness arises, The Homeschool calls for a Halfie
and instructs in bed when capable...

Student tromped down the stairs to take refuge in Teacher's bed. AKA: sick bed.

Reading aloud some hymn history, Rebecca and Student vetoed other
subjects for the Halfie, so it was a slow day.

Others find the energy to get into the dirt and clean...

Learning necessary flushing skills while he is at it...
Mascot gets to work in the bathroom.

And why not put things back in their correct places?
That he did.
Clean up in the bathroom was a FIRST for him,
and it was a success.

Where IS that Warrior, anyhow?

Thursday Together

Together.

That which we build.

That which we read.

That which we discover.

That which we mess up.

That which we explore.

That which we re-think.

We do together.

Monday School

Warrior has been working with his hands for quite a while for manipulatives in Mathematics.
Today, is a transition to shapes.

Reading aloud with quite careful elocution,
Student presented the Psalms to the Homeschool.

Onto Current Events,
Student reads from the news page at Klove.

Catching some simple experiments up with GRAVITY force tests,
Student gathered an array of objects to test...

And reading up on Health, Student always enjoys the comic strips.

And Mascot? Well, he's getting his share of time as Baby Spider...

Blessings of knowing the souls of Heaven's treasures.
These children are no strangers.
Guests that we are keeping and caring for
until He returns.

Friday School

Choosing their fav activities
to finish up a snowy work week,
Warrior Read through to the finish so he could have
Computer time.

Student had some instructional drawing time with Principal
on depth and human faces. Both her choice of work.

As that was not all Principal was up to today
at the Homeschool...

He shared an ice DART with Mascot.
Then upon Mascot's vocal excitement,
Warrior appeared to inspect the cause.

Thank you Lord of Lords,
You brought another week
and have ended another week.
We eagerly await your return,
but keep striving to do the work You have
for us until we see You arriving in the clouds.
Amen.

Friday Construction

Voting to have sewing FIRST on our list of lessons today, Student and Teacher got to work while Mascot & Warrior directed the trains on the track in their room.

Repurposing an old jean skirt of Student's, Teacher has used it to patch many a pair of jean. But, there was more than enough, as Student reported, to make a dress for Rebecca! Again, that resourceful girl just amazes Teacher at her likeness of her Creator.

Cutting, stitching, toothbrushin...and Student's handwork on the buttons that were already prepped with holes from the jean skirt closure at the waist...and Rebecca had her FARM DRESS, as Student named it!

Then, after Teacher realized just HOW MUCH time had passed, she lead Activity for P.E. and Mascot followed directions quite well!

Student and Warrior decided to argue over who used which blue mat today...

And so, that left little time for seatwork, so Student took over.

Stepping right in and helping those around her. Using her Spiritual gift of Teaching, and womanly virtue of bossing, she was the key to completing our learning day!

After Student gave a summary of their learning, she and Warrior joined Teacher in the kitchen for cookie dough!

The cookies must be around here somewhere...

Another Schoolday

Yes, onward with the eyes on the prize!

Of course, Teacher isn't insisting on a one-track-mind...
afterall, she's been pulling double-duty during Student's
Spelling lessons.

Homeschool Rule #336
Handwork should always be available for just such opportunities!

Mascot's handwork is of a different sorts, but just as busy!

And the most popular between-time-filler for Warrior and Student has been group time on the computer. Warrior has been LOVING his new phonics game online! His favorite is the shoot out, with Student's help only on the HARD level!

And though his Reading is progressing well, Teacher has to take the time to convince him that books are exciting...think this is convincing.

Lord,
teach us as parents to pray for Your children the way You would have us. Amen.

Wednesday Wonders

Really, it is obvious there IS a God, when it's January and the sun continues to bring warmth for out door activity.

It is even MORE evident that there is a God when Teacher observes the daily ways this family grows closer together.

Being in the lives of these children God has entrusted us, is going to bring lasting memories and love.

And what else is MORE eternal than relationships. First and foremost with our Savior Jesus Christ, and then with those we love.

Even when the wee hands MUST get involved in reorganizing scattered recipes, there is the presence of God in the love that is daily being harvested through learning at the Homeschool.

Make a Difference Monday

Beginning our last semester of the year... WOW! His grace has been, and will continue to be sufficient. Thus, we continue our journey through 2011. We are making a difference in the lives of these children of God, on Mondays and always, as we will not be strangers to their souls.

Our mornings are beginning with Student's reading aloud a Psalm each day. This devotional has some fun insights, and Student is learning more about pausing with punctuation and elocution. Warrior is just trying to learn to LISTEN & SIT simultaneously. Today he opted to piggy back on Teacher and listen.

Continuing seatwork and finishing up Christmas thank yous to our thoughtful relatives put our new pencils to work. Thanks to Grammy for the school supplies! Nice rulers just in time for Student's transportation lessons in Math. She's measuring to the quarter inch and even singing about it! The song will have to come later, after Teacher can play it succinctly on the keyboard!

Teacher had thought including this song was far less than NEEDED, and maybe even under the maturity level of Student, but it just so happens, that Warrior enjoys it and loves all things TRANSPORTATION, so God went before us and lined-up an opportunity for Teacher to read music and play the keyboard! Oh what fun! (Yes, Teacher has not had a lesson since 1996...and that was clarinet!)

On the homeschool campus, Mascot roams and finds the best places to park it and learn...

Of course, that's when he's not in on the lesson...

With the constant help of Student, our semester began right on track. Oh what love the Father has lavished upon us, as that girl is the nucleus of everything that goes on, here. In addition to her own studies, she is actively helping others. Thank you, God.

The day is done, the lessons are learned,
and the result of Warrior's continued practice cutting with scissors
has yielded the sweetest one-legged bear!
God is smiling, and so are we!
